Your AVAMP amphibian observation reports will be used by amphibian biologists to: understand the distribution of Alberta's amphibian species help detect any future amphibian population declines assist with the provincial status designations for many of our amphibian species How does it work? You can monitor or survey any pond or wetland that interests you, or simply record incidental observations as you enjoy your regular outdoor activities. The amount of time and energy you put into the AVAMP is entirely up to you! As a member of the program you will be provided an amphibian monitoring manual with instructions on how to monitor, and an amphibian-call identification CD that will quickly familiarize you with the amphibians in your area. Teachers are especially encouraged involve their classes in amphibian monitoring, and a teacher's guide is available to help use the AVAMP as a teaching tool. Get involved! The AVAMP program is delivered by the Alberta Conservation Association (ACA), in partnership with Alberta Sustainable Resource Development (ASRD), and other agencies.
