Important 2018 Membership Update

Arriving in May 2018, the Calgary Zoo is welcoming giant pandas for the first time in 30 years! For Albertans that recall the Calgary Winter Olympics of 1988, that event coincided with a cuddly seven-month visit of two giant pandas, on loan from China. The situation was nothing other than pandamonium– a thrilling time at the Calgary Zoo that was “Panda Magic”.

2017 WAS A WHOOPING YEAR FOR CRANES

2017 was one of the best years in the 28-year history of the zoo’s whooping crane program, generously sponsored by ConocoPhillips Canada.

There are seven pairs located at the Devonian Wildlife Conservation Centre (DWCC), which is Canada’s only facility dedicated to breeding this endangered bird for release into the wild.
