Once wetlands start to thaw, leopard frogs will emerge from their sleepy hibernation with one thing on their mind: find their own Valentine! Male leopard frogs arrive at breeding ponds shortly after they wake up and begin calling to attract a mate. Zoo researchers set up song meters to capture the deep melodic calls as part of their long term research study in southern Alberta. Give it a listen!
