On Wednesday, June 19, the Calgary Zoo will be hosting over 400 students for its first annual Conservation Champions Festival. Every year, the zoo’s Outreach Education team inspires more than 40,000 youth through our conservation education programs. This inaugural celebration will recognize the efforts of thirteen classes from the 2018-2019 Chevron Open Minds Zoo School program and honour their commitment to taking small actions that lead to big change for wildlife and wild places. Ten elementary schools will be showcased at this year’s event, sharing their conservation journeys from booths set up on park.

ABOUT THE BLOGAt the Calgary Zoo, we have endless stories to share about our animals, our people and our conservation work. Whether we are inspiring our visitors to love nature, saving species in western Canada from extinction or working with scientists on the other side of the globe, our ultimate goal is simple: to help wildlife and keep it wild.
