Surprise! Spring red panda cubs make an adorable debut

 

THEY’RE SO FLUFFY!

In the cutest news we’ve shared in the past few weeks, two male red panda cubs are now romping through their habitat. These adorable twins were born earlier this spring on June 21, 2016, and like most den animals, spent the first few months of their life bonding with their mom away from the public eye.

Growth spurt! Catch up on the red panda cub’s first few months

The Calgary Zoo just welcomed a new red panda cub! This cute girl was born on July 15 to parents Sakura and Dusk. Not only are we thrilled to have a new cub, but a female cub will be very important to the species when she reaches breeding age to participate in the Species Survival Plan (SSP).

What’s red, black & cute all over?

Our new female red panda cub!

She was born on July 15, 2015 to proud parents, Sakura and Dusk. Mother Sakura is our new female and is two years old – she’s a first time mom and has done a great job caring for and raising her cub!

Sakura came to us from Granby Zoo last year on a breeding recommendation from the Species Survival Plan (SSP). Father Dusk is 11 years old and has been a zoo regular for two years.

Hi everyone, it’s your resident dinosaur fan, Sam!

I spent this past week in the ‘Zoo Explorers’ summer camp and learned so many things! We went for a walk in the Prehistoric Park, and I noticed some really cool reptiles in the lagoon.They go by many names such as Elasmosaurus, Nothosaurus, and Tanystropheus, but my favorite the big and scary Tylosaurus.
