It’s National Zoo Keeper Week and we’re sharing the love! To recognize the dedication and hard work of our amazing zoo keepers, we are posting an interview of a keeper each day this week. Meet Cissy Kou, a dedicated giant panda keeper whose early dreams of being a vet or a dolphin trainer lead her to caring for this iconic black-and-white species.
How are we feeding our four giant pandas? We’re announcing that Hainan Airlines is the Panda Passage Official Carrier, for the next five years, transporting sustainably and ethically-harvested bamboo from China to Calgary.

The Calgary Zoo just welcomed a new red panda cub! This cute girl was born on July 15 to parents Sakura and Dusk. Not only are we thrilled to have a new cub, but a female cub will be very important to the species when she reaches breeding age to participate in the Species Survival Plan (SSP).
