Spring has sprung at the Calgary Zoo! Warmer weather means that some animals at the zoo will be enjoying more time outdoors, while others prefer to cool off inside.

The king penguins will be chilling inside for the rest of the season as climbing temperatures bring the 2019 Penguin Walk to a close for the welfare of the birds. It was a successful year for the walk, with a record 15 penguins joining the daily enrichment activity following the addition of five new birds from the Montreal Biodome. The sudden arrival of spring has resulted in the decision to cancel the walk as of March 20 instead of its original end date of March 31, 2019.

When temperatures rise, our Humboldt penguin colony goes outside for some fresh air. With daily Tiger Training at 11:30 a.m. beginning March 20 and the Prehistoric Park (with the new suspension bridge) opening this weekend, our guests will have plenty to see and do.

Stay tuned for future updates as we move through Spring and start to plan for Easter weekend.
