Black-Footed Ferrets Released in Canada for the Second Year

Jul 03, 2013

On September 23, for the second successive year, a group of 15 black-footed ferrets were reintroduced to the Canadian prairies in Grasslands National Park.

As part of the international recovery team, Calgary Zoo researchers and Parks Canada officials led the planning and coordination of this second reintroduction. In October 2009, 34 black-footed ferrets were released to the park, bringing ferrets back to the Canadian prairies after an absence of more than 70 years.
