ZOOLIGHTS 2022

EXTREME COLD SNAP CAUSES FURTHER ZOOLIGHTS CANCELLATIONS

Posted on December 21

21 December 2022 (Calgary, AB) – ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, is being cancelled tonight (December 21) and tomorrow night (December 22), due to the extreme cold weather forecast. Indoor holiday dinner bookings will proceed on these evenings as planned.

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo will contact all ticket holders (including those with Snow Globe bookings) to provide impacted attendees with an alternate date to attend. Weather conditions are carefully monitored daily and decisions to cancel are made the day of. ZOOLIGHTS will hopefully resume on December 23, 2022 (weather permitting).

Does the cold have you thinking of the zoo's animal residents? Us too! The Animal Care, Health & Welfare Team always watch habitat temperatures closely to ensure the comfort of the animals in their care. Each species has its own temperature parameters based on behavioural observations and an understanding of its unique anatomy. This means that some residents may be inside when it's this cold, while others may be even more active when the cold snap hits. From cougars to gray wolves in the Canadian Wilds to Amur tigers and red pandas in Exploration Asia - there are several cold weather-loving species to visit at the zoo.

The zoo will remain open for daytime visits (excluding December 25). A friendly reminder that the North Gate opens at 9 a.m. and the last entry for day admission and members is at 3 p.m. Head to calgaryzoo.com to learn more and grab your tickets.
