26 DECEMBER 2022 (Calgary, AB) – There’s still time to experience Calgary’s favourite winter tradition! The magic of ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, continues with two more weeks of family-friendly fun. 

This year's ZOOLIGHTS is bigger, brighter and more magical than ever before. Familiar favourites, like the wildlife carousel, skating rink and firepits are mixed with all-new immersive experiences sure to dazzle and delight.  

We’re spreading extra cheer with FIVE new installations: 

• Return to the Wild in Prehistoric Park | Follow the journey of a whooping crane chick from a small, speckled egg until they spread their wings and take flight, released into the wild to safeguard the future of their species. We celebrate conservation success through art, storytelling and illumination. 
• Forest of Kenya in Destination Africa | Be immersed in stories from the tangled mountain forest complex around Mt. Kenya. We’ll be Bee-ting the Drum for Bongo, as we share the link between a critically endangered antelope species and the buzzing of honeybees with an interactive drumming experience. Lights showcase the biodiversity of Kenya and celebrate the community-led conservation initiatives we are so proud to be part of. 
• Garden of Light in the Dorothy Harvie Gardens | Enjoy a magical garden experience during the winter. The Dorothy Harvie Gardens will be illuminated in colourful lights and flower figures. 
• All about Family in the Gorilla Amphitheatre | As you spend time with your dear ones, we want you to get to know one of the families at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo – the gorilla troop! Meet each family member and learn about their relationships through dynamic spoken word poetry and an innovative light show experience. 
• Polar Wonderland in Exploration Asia | Take a stroll through Polar Wonderland, a new themed section that pays homage to the animals of the North and South poles. This experience is a celebration of winter with shades of blues and snowflakes throughout.

• December 31: Zoo Year’s Eve Late Night (18+), presented by Orange Frog** 

**Zoo Year’s Eve family-friendly and late-night events are separately ticketed events. ZOOLIGHTS admission tickets, zoo passes and complimentary tickets will not be accepted for admission. Purchase tickets here.

• Smoke-free in 2023! The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is transitioning to a non-smoking/non-vaping facility. These changes will take effect as of January 1, 2023.
