Green and Gorgeous (3-5)

In this program students will act as budding botanists, learning about the importance of plants in our world. Through station-based activities aimed at discovering various aspects of plants, such as seed dispersal, pollination, life cycles and function of anatomy, students will reflect on the question, “How does our understanding and appreciation of plants help us to protect our environment?”

    • Investigate and discuss how plants and animals respond to stimuli in their environments in order to survive.

Grade 4

  • Living Systems:
    • Relate the external structures of plants to their functions: plants may have roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruit, or other structures
    • Discuss how plants respond to sensory stimuli.
  • Earth Systems:
    • Investigate conservation practices in natural and human-made areas.
    • Discuss the interconnectedness between human use of parks and conservation practices.

    • Plants are complex organisms with transport systems that carry out specific functions for survival.

Grade 6

  • Living Systems:
    • Examine the diversity of animals and plants in various ecosystems in relation to abiotic components.
    • Examine ways that plants and animals rely on each other to meet their needs.
