Learn more about Winter FOCUSED

  • What should I bring with me?
    • Camera – don't forget the most important item!

    • Dress for the weather! This event is outdoors rain, snow or shine!

    • Wear Comfy Footwear! The zoo is a big place and you will be walking a lot.

    • Mask - Face coverings are strongly recommended for ages 2+ and are required inside Calgary Zoo buildings from August 1, in accordance with City of Calgary Bylaw 26M2020. While FOCUSED takes place outdoors, if you decided to stay to explore the rest of the zoo grounds afterwards, please expect to require a face covering to enter: Gift Shop locations, indoor washrooms and Lost & Found services.

  • What else should I know about attending Winter FOCUSED?
    • The Calgary Zoo is currently an outdoor-only experience. Be sure to follow the important Health & Safety information below and all signage on grounds! We ask all FOCUSED participants to practice safe physically distancing, to wash your paws often, and to only congregate with your household.

    • Masks are strongly encouraged, but not mandatory* while outdoors. Zoo staff and volunteers will be wearing masks at all times. *Subject to change.

    • This photography experience is entirely accessible – if you need to rent a wheelchair or powerchair, please visit our North Gift Shop upon arrival.

    • The Calgary Zoo opens to the public at 9:00 a.m. During FOCUSED, the Canadian Wilds will be closed to members and the public until 11:00 a.m. This special experience ticket allows you exclusive access to the Canadian Wilds until 11:00 a.m. You will need to keep it with you at all times, either on your phone or as a print out.

    • Please be mindful that as you will be entering the zoo during our opening hours, you may see some of our animal care team performing their daily morning routines. Some animals may not be visible for a short period while the animal care team cleans their habitat, and as always, the animals in our care have access to both their indoor and outdoor space and can choose where they want to be. Early mornings tend to be the best time to catch the animals at their most active - enabling you to capture some exceptional moments!

    • We will not be accepting cash on premises. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Is parking included?

Parking is $12 and is not included in the ticket price. You can park and enter the zoo through our North parking lot and entrance. Payment machines are located in the North parking lot (Alberta Plaza). The North gate will open at 9:00 a.m. and the event starts at 9:00 a.m.

The Winter FOCUSED experience will run for 2 hours. Be sure to take advantage of your full day admission and stay to enjoy the rest of the zoo grounds for Zooventure - our safety-minded outdoor-only experience.

Experiences like these are crucial to our financial success. If you enjoy Winter FOCUSED, please share your experience on social media using #followusatthezoo; referrals are warmly welcomed!
