Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.
African Savannah: Painting inside and around the African Savannah Building will impact hippo viewing. Hippos will not be viewable on the following dates:
Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.
Bite-Sized
Late yesterday afternoon, wood bison ‘Keewatin’ welcomed a new calf into the world. Some of our visitors and staff were even lucky enough to witness this special moment firsthand.
At just one day old, the calf is already showing encouraging early signs like nursing and growing steadier on its feet. With Taiga’s calf born just 18 days earlier, we can’t wait to watch these two little bison grow and bond together.
