Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.
Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.
Bite-Sized
Chick it out – our southern bald ibis chick has a name!
Chosen with care by our staff and volunteers, we’re thrilled to introduce you to ‘Maloti’ (pronounced mah-LOH-tee). The name pays homage to the Maloti-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa — an area within the southern bald ibis’s natural range. At this time, the chick has yet to be sexed, but it is identifiable by the feathers on the top of its head and the absence of a red cap.
Stop by the Rainforest Aviary to say hi!
