Sending ‘Sariaka’ on an Adventure

August 11, 2025 | 1 minute read
Who is black and white and off to new adventures? Our female black-and-white ruffed lemur, ‘Sariaka’!
While goodbyes are never easy, we’re thrilled that Sariaka will be starting an exciting new chapter. She’ll soon be heading to another facility to be paired with a male black-and-white ruffed lemur who will benefit from having a companion.
Her move is part of a social pairing recommendation through the Species Survival Plan (SSP). While this isn’t a breeding recommendation, social pairings like this play a vital role in supporting the welfare and wellbeing of animals across zoological institutions.
The last day to see Sariaka in Land of Lemurs will be August 14. Be sure to swing over to wish her a bon voyage!
