Bite-Sized

Did you know that panther chameleons can rotate and focus their eyes independently? This allows them to see almost a full 360-degree view around their body and look at two different objects at the same time! This is very helpful when searching for prey while keeping on the lookout for predators. When a chameleon has found its prey, it can focus both eyes in the same direction to lock on to its target and strike with pinpoint precision.
You’ll find Makira, and her habitat mate, ‘Neo’, in their habitat in the Rainforest building.
