Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.
Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.
Bite-Sized
Have you herd the news? We’re thrilled to share that yesterday morning, a wood bison calf was born to mom, ‘Taiga’, who turns five next month!
At just one day old, the calf — whose sex has not yet been determined — is already showing encouraging early signs and growing steadier on its feet. You may catch a glimpse of this little one in its Wild Canada habitat, staying close to mom.
And the excitement isn’t over yet — our four-year-old wood bison, ‘Keewatin’, is also expecting! We’re keeping our hooves crossed as we await the arrival of another calf in the near future!
