Seasonal Closures

Gorilla Amphitheatre: The Gorilla Amphitheatre is closed for the season from October 15th, 2025. Our gorilla troop remains viewable in their indoor habitat.

Prehistoric Park: Prehistoric Park is closed for the season from October 27th, 2025, pending favorable weather conditions.

Animal Viewing Impacts:

PETRONAS Gateway to Asia Malayan Tapir Viewing: ‘Sempurna’ and her calf will have daily access to the main indoor habitat from 10:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. They’ll also have access to their behind-the-scenes space and may choose to spend time there, especially when the calf is nursing, so viewing isn’t always guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.

Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.

  • Species Viewable: Bactrian camels, Komodo dragons, white-handed gibbons, Malayan tapirs, red-crowned cranes, Turkmenian markhors, Amur tigers, wild boar, and Pallas’s cats.
  • Species Not Viewable: Snow leopards and red pandas have been relocated during construction, but don’t worry – these beloved species will be back in 2026. Our peacocks and Dalmatian pelicans are currently spending time in their winter holding space.

West Gate Closure

Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

ZooDunnit (18+)

Wild After Hours: ZooDunnit (18+)

We need your help to crack the case! Join us this March for a brand-new live murder mystery game. Gather clues, engage with a shady cast of characters, and enjoy food and drinks throughout the zoo.

By the end of the night, you’ll know everything you need to solve the mystery. Dinner — and justice — will be served! Your ticket will include the mystery, food stations and cash bars. This game night will include interactive shady characters, puzzles to solve and fun to be had as you progressively eat your way to solving the case.

When: Friday, March 27, 2026

Time: 5:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.

Ticket Price: $94 + GST

  • This is an adults-only experience (18+), valid ID will be required to enter. Guests arriving for this experience with children/infants will not be admitted. No refunds will be provided.
  • This experience is intended to be enjoyed after hours. As such, all animal areas will be closed so our animals will not be visible during this experience.
  • A device with an Internet connection is required for this event.
  • Please note that our menu items marked as GF are gluten-friendly as we are not a gluten-free facility.
  • This event is entirely accessible. If you need to rent a wheelchair or powerchair, please contact Guest Relations at (403) 232-9300 at least 24 hours before the event. These services will not be open during the event without a pre-booking.
  • Parking  is $14 and is not included. Wild Journey members receive free parking when they successfully register with ParkPlus.
