More About Zoo School
Chevron Open Minds Zoo School is a full time Campus Calgary/Open Minds learning site available to Grades 1 – 12. Each spring we accept applications from educators across the city who would like their students to experience a week long field study at the zoo which can be extended into a year long catalyst for learning engagement.
Discover how zoo school will engage your students, connect them with the natural world around them, inspire curiosity and build their problem solving skills throughout the entire year.
Zoo School Resources
Learn how your zoo school coordinator can help you plan your academic year around this amazing weeklong opportunity. Acceptance into the program will include a professional development session, a classroom planning visit, various CC/OM workshops throughout the year and other site specific resources such as biofact kits and biofact story boxes. Chevron Open Minds Zoo School also creates an easy gateway into the Conservation Champions Festival, taking place annually at the Calgary Zoo/Wilder Institute. The Conservation Champions Festival will provide us with a chance to celebrate any conservation action your students have undertaken, no matter how small.
Help with Planning
To make sure that you and your students get the most from this unique experience we provide in-depth planning assistance both during the summer and throughout the school year.
