Polar Bear Viewing Impact: April 28-May 2

Polar bear ‘Siku’ will not be viewable in the main habitat from Monday, April 28th to Friday, May 2nd to accommodate habitat maintenance. However, you might still catch a glimpse of him in his outdoor courtyard—just take a look through the amphitheatre viewing window! Thank you for your understanding.

Remembering ‘Tater Tot’

We are saddened to share that on December 23, 2023, our Animal Care, Health & Welfare team made the compassionate decision to euthanize our 14- year-old Hottentot teal, ‘Tater Tot’.

Tater Tot called the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo home for his entire life, having hatched here in 2009.

We will share additional information, including the health challenges that led to this decision once a necropsy is completed. Please keep the African Rainforest team in your thoughts during this difficult time.
