Imagine Asia Grand Opening

Imagine Asia will have a delayed opening time on Wednesday, July 15. Members will have exclusive access from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. General public access begins at 12:30 p.m. We can’t wait to see you there!

Animal Viewing Impacts:

Land of Lemurs: Last entry to Land of Lemurs will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19th and Sunday, July 26th, to accommodate set up for our Wild After Hours: Lemurs (18+) events. Thank you for your understanding.

PETRONAS Gateway to Asia Malayan Tapir Viewing: ‘Sempurna’ and her female calf ‘Nyawa’ have daily access to either the main indoor habitat or the outdoor habitat from 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. They’ll also have access to their behind-the-scenes space and may choose to spend time there, so viewing isn’t always guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.

Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.

  • Species Viewable: Bactrian camels, Komodo dragons, white-handed gibbons, Malayan tapirs, red-crowned cranes, Turkmenian markhors, Amur tigers, and Pallas’s cats.
  • Species Not Viewable: Snow leopards and red pandas have been relocated during construction, but don’t worry – these beloved species will be back in 2026.

West Gate Closure

Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

The Wilder Bunch

The Wilder Bunch is a team of talented performers who bring conservation to life through engaging and interactive experiences at the zoo. During the high season, the Wilder Bunch leads daily parades featuring larger-than-life animal puppets and costumes created by Green Fools Theatre.  You might meet a burrowing owl, a swift fox, or even a stilt-walking whooping crane! Their lively music performances are also a highlight including award-winning original songs such as “The Marmot Blues” and “The Pollen Dance.”

 

The Wilder Bunch’s efforts are part of our purpose to act for wildlife; saving species and inspiring people to join us. By connecting with guests in meaningful ways, the Wilder Bunch helps inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world in both children and adults alike.

Conservation Celebration Parade

Join the Wilder Bunch parade* with custom puppets created by Green Fools Theatre. Starting at Penguin Plaza, the parade will promenade down Discovery Trail to Africa Junction, where you can join the party by getting up close with performers and puppets, snap some photos, and learn some cool animal facts!

*Please note: Performances are weather permitting.
