Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.
Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.
Bite-Sized
Are you red-y for some good news? On June 17, red panda parents ‘Udaya’ and ‘Linus’ welcomed their second litter of cubs – a set of twins!
These youngsters bring our resident red panda pack to six – joining their lively one-year-old siblings ‘Sundari’ and ‘Ravi.
While we promise red pandas are in fact red in colour, the photos we have are taken from CCTV footage in our nursery of Udaya bonding with her new cubs. The cameras allow our Animal Care, Health & Welfare team to keep a close eye on them from a distance while allowing her to stay calm and enjoy some newborn snuggles.
While Udaya and her new cubs relax behind the scenes, you can still visit the rest of the red panda family and congratulate them on this paw-some news!
