Meet our Animal Care, Health & Welfare team
Discover the fascinating world of the animals in our care led by Dr. Doug Whiteside, our Head Veterinarian & Senior Manager – Animal Health and Welfare, and his amazing team of veterinarians and animal health technologists!
This engaging evening features a lively presentation filled with photos, videos, X-rays, and real-life stories that take place at the zoo! At different booths, you’ll have the chance to check out the tools of the trade and chat with the experts on our Animal Health team. You’ll learn what goes into caring for our animals, from routine check-ups to unexpected emergencies. This event is recommended for those aged 12 and up.

Where: Safari Lodge
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Schedule:
- 4:00 p.m. – Guests are welcome to arrive early and explore the zoo.
- 6:00 p.m. – Doors open to Safari Lodge, where complimentary snacks are available and drinks are for purchase at the bar.
- 6:30 p.m. – Presentation from our Animal Health team.
- 7:10 p.m. – Intermission with complimentary snacks and opportunity to purchase drinks at the bar.
- 7:30 p.m. – Presentation continues.
- 8:10 p.m. – Explore booths, gaining hands-on familiarization with the tools of the trade.
- 9:00 p.m. – Evening concludes.
Ticket Pricing:
Adult (16 – 59): $40 + GST
Senior (60+): $36 + GST
Child (3 – 15): $25 + GST

- Ticket includes: Zoo grounds admission from 4 p.m., and a fascinating presentation by the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo’s Animal Care, Health & Welfare team.
- Tickets are not sold onsite and must be purchased online in advance.
- The content of this event is intended for an audience of ages 12+.
- ParkPlus Parking at the zoo is $14. Wild Explorer, Wild Adventurer and Wild Guardian members receive free registered parking if they have successfully registered with ParkPlus.
- Please enter with your tickets at our North Parking Lot and Entrance.
- This event takes place snow, rain or shine. No refunds are permitted.
