    Early Grounds Closure Alert

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo will be closing at 4 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022 while we prepare the grounds for the after-hours event, Corks for Conservation (18+). Last entry for members and day admission ticket holders will be 3 p.m. The zoo grounds will be cleared by 4 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

    Mask Wear

Mask wear is required for visitors (ages 3+) while visiting the outdoor Land of Lemurs walkthrough to help keep our lemur troop safe. For animal welfare reasons, mask wear exemptions are not accepted in this space. Be sure to bring a mask with you when you visit if you would like to enter. Thank you for your understanding.

    Changes in the Canadian Wilds

To create some exciting new habitats and spaces in the Canadian Wilds, we are undergoing a massive construction project which will temporarily shift pathways and move some animals offsite until the construction is completed. Muskox, wood bison, bighorn sheep, woodland caribou, whooping crane, North American river otter, Rocky Mountain goat, and the residents of the Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary are currently not viewable. Learn more and view the current Canadian Wilds map here. We’re working hard to minimize impacts while continuing to provide the best possible experience for both our visitors and the animals we love and care for. Thank you for your understanding.

Gorillas on the Line

Gorillas are on the line - will you help us answer the call? Some cell phone parts use coltanan ore mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Gorilla habitat is threatened by the mining for metals used in electronics. Recycling old cell phones (and small handheld electronics) raises money to directly support gorilla conservation initiatives through Gorilla SAFE programs!

A Global Authority for Animal Stewardship and Conservation

If you’ve spent any time at the Calgary Zoo, you know that we are more than just a place to see animals. Like accredited zoos and aquariums world-wide, we are a force for animal welfare, wildlife conservation, and using science to sustain threatened wildlife in Canada and around the world. Incredible successes can be achieved when people are inspired to support wildlife conservation.

Together, with your support, we can make the world a wilder place.
