    Canadian Wilds Construction Update:

To create some exciting new habitats and spaces in the Canadian Wilds, we are undergoing an extensive construction project which will temporarily shift pathways and move some animals offsite until the construction is completed.

    • The Canadian Wilds North Path remains closed.
    • Starting on September 5th through October 6th, changes are coming to the Canadian Wilds South Path. Learn more here.
    • Starting on October 10th, the Canadian Wilds (North and South) will be fully closed. Learn more here.

We’re working hard to minimize impacts while continuing to provide the best possible experience for both our visitors and the animals we love and care for. We look forward to welcoming visitors back to the space when the new Wild Canada zone officially opens on December 1, 2023.

    Temporary Habitat Closure: Chilean flamingos

The Chilean flamingos will not be viewable from Monday, September 18th to Friday, September 29th while we complete maintenance on their indoor habitat. Thank you for your understanding as we make the zoo the best it can be for the animals we love and care for!

Temporary Impact: Animatronic Dinosaurs in Prehistoric Park

On September 27, 2023, work on a transformer will result in a partial power shutdown that will impact a number of the animatronic dinosaurs in Prehistoric Park throughout the day.

Gorillas on the Line

Gorillas are on the line - will you help us answer the call? Some cell phone parts use coltanan ore mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Gorilla habitat is threatened by the mining for metals used in electronics. Recycling old cell phones (and small handheld electronics) raises money to directly support gorilla conservation initiatives through Gorilla SAFE programs!

A Global Authority for Animal Stewardship and Conservation

If you’ve spent any time at the Calgary Zoo, you know that we are more than just a place to see animals. Like accredited zoos and aquariums world-wide, we are a force for animal welfare, wildlife conservation, and using science to sustain threatened wildlife in Canada and around the world. Incredible successes can be achieved when people are inspired to support wildlife conservation.

Together, with your support, we can make the world a wilder place.
