Imagine Asia will have a delayed opening time on Wednesday, July 15. Members will have exclusive access from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. General public access begins at 1 p.m. We can’t wait to see you there!

Animal Viewing Impacts:

PETRONAS Gateway to Asia Malayan Tapir Viewing: ‘Sempurna’ and her female calf ‘Nyawa’ have daily access to either the main indoor habitat or the outdoor habitat from 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. They’ll also have access to their behind-the-scenes space and may choose to spend time there, so viewing isn’t always guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.

Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.

  • Species Viewable: Bactrian camels, Komodo dragons, white-handed gibbons, Malayan tapirs, red-crowned cranes, Turkmenian markhors, Amur tigers, and Pallas’s cats.
  • Species Not Viewable: Snow leopards and red pandas have been relocated during construction, but don’t worry – these beloved species will be back in 2026.

West Gate Closure

Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

On Friday, August 7, the zoo will be shaking and stirring with excitement at this guest-favourite event. As the sun goes down and the music turns up, you’ll sample beverages from local vendors, visit your favourite animals and stroll through our lush gardens, and indulge in delicious food stations spread throughout the zoo. Who knows, you might just discover a new favourite drink (or two)!

Cocktails for Conservation Menu

Chef-attended food stations will be available between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., located throughout zoo grounds.

After 9 p.m., there will be select drink stations, a late-night snack station open, and cash bar* located on Asia Lawn.

*Cash bar purchases are not included in the Cocktails for Conservation ticket price.

  • This is an adults-only experience (18+). Valid ID will be required to enter. Guests arriving for this experience with children/infants will not be admitted. No refunds will be provided.
  • Tickets are not sold onsite and must be purchased online in advance.
  • This experience is intended to be enjoyed after hours. Some of our animals may not be visible during this experience as they may be settling down for their evening sleep.
  • This event will take place rain or shine. Please be sure to dress accordingly for the occasion.
  • This event is mostly accessible, however, portions of the event do take place on lawns and grass areas which are difficult for wheelchairs and powerchairs to navigate. If you need to rent a wheelchair or powerchair, please contact Guest Relations at (403) 232-9300 at least 24 hours before the event. These services will not be open during the event without a pre-booking.
  • Please note that our menu items marked as GF are gluten-friendly as we are not a gluten-free facility.
  • Parking is $14 and is not included. Wild Journey members receive free parking when they successfully register with ParkPlus.
  • Wildlife Guardians receive a 20% discount to this event
  • Wild Adventurers receive a 10% discount to this event
