  • All team members must arrive at the same time to start the game – be sure that you register for the same time slot and pick up your Locked Zoo package together on arrival at the zoo.

What to bring:

  • Cell Phone Required – this event REQUIRES a cell phone with data to participate. You will need one per team, fully charged. You will be watching videos and completing tasks through your phone. Phone charging stations are not available. Watch your emails! You never know what important information you may receive before the event... hint... hint...

  • Mask - Face coverings are recommended for ages 2+ and are required inside Calgary Zoo buildings from August 1, in accordance with City of Calgary Bylaw 26M2020. While the majority of the Locked Zoo event takes place outdoors, please note that you will be required to wear a mask to enter the Savannah building, Cequel Energy Lodge and Kitamba (except while enjoying food and beverages at our indoor tables!), indoor washrooms and Lost & Found services.

  • Dress for the weather (rain or shine)! This event will be outdoors all evening.

  • Wear Comfy Shoes! The zoo is a big place and you will be walking a large part of it for this event.

  • Positive Gaming Attitude – this is a fun, entertaining evening intended to help you have fun learning about wildlife conservation, while enjoying the Calgary Zoo at night. Challenges will test your problem-solving skills, and volunteers across the zoo will help guide you (if needed!).

What to know:

  • The Calgary Zoo is a one-directional experience. Be sure to follow the important Health & Safety information below, all signage and the pink paw prints! We ask all event participants to practice safe physically distancing, to wash your paws often, and to only congregate in your personal cohort group. Going your own way could be detrimental to your game...

  • Our Zoo Crew will be sanitizing high touch surfaces throughout the event experience.

  • Masks are encouraged, but not mandatory. Zoo staff and volunteers will be wearing masks at all times.

  • There will be several versions of the Locked Zoo experience taking place at the same time. You’re welcome to walk and enjoy all outdoor areas of the zoo grounds, but don’t worry if you see clues and activities that you didn’t do – they won’t all apply to your team’s challenge!

  • This event is entirely accessible – if you need to rent a wheelchair or powerchair – please contact Guest Relations at 403-232-9300 at least 24 hours before the event. These services will not be open during the event without a pre-booking.

  • The Calgary Zoo closes to the public at 6 p.m. This special event ticket allows you to stay on grounds until 9 p.m. You will need to keep it with you at all times, either on your phone or as a print out.

  • We kindly ask that you do not bring outside food and beverages to this event. Your support of our food services is greatly appreciated and helps us make these events financially stable.
