Calgary, AB – The Calgary Zoo’s Annual Easter Eggstravaganza takes on a Canadiana twist this year in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday. Taking inspiration from those close to home, the two-day event will highlight products that come from within our own community.
“We are lucky to be surrounded by local innovators and entrepreneurs who bring us delicious treats, fresh produce and services that make our lives easier, and the fabric of our city more vibrant,” says Roz Freeman, Senior Specialist, Special Events and Experience, Calgary Zoo. “In our four activity zones you will meet many of these partners such as Egg Producers of Alberta, Agrium, Cobb’s Corn Maze, The Italian Bakery and more.”
Beginning on Friday, April 14 and running through Saturday, April 15, visitors will be treated to all of their favourite activities such as face painting, bunny races and chocolate giveaways from Cococo Chocolatiers. Divided into activity zones, guests will meet local partners who are participating in this year’s event.
Visitors are also encouraged to stop into Canada’s Greatest Animal Campaign Headquarters in Cequel Lodge in the Canadian Wilds. Here they can take part in button making and colouring activities, as well as casting their vote for goat, bison, beaver, grizzly, owl, wolf or whooping crane! To learn more about YOUR favourite candidate, visit our Canada 150 page here.
As a conservation organization, the Calgary Zoo fosters a farm-to-fork mentality and supports local producers and suppliers. Revenue generated supports animal conservation and research efforts in Canada and around the world.
