Temporary Closure: Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary

The Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary is presently closed.

Why the closure? It’s nesting season for our owls! Our great grey owls, especially the younger members of our parliament, can become protective of their nests and territory during this time.

To support their natural behaviors and prioritize safety for both our birds and visitors, we’re taking a proactive step by temporarily closing the habitat. Thank you for your understanding.

Early Zone Closure, Wild Canada (see post for dates)

Wild Canada will close early on the following dates to accommodate set up for the Wild After Hours: Polar Bears event (18+). The last entry to the zone will be 4:00 p.m.

Building Closure, Penguin Plunge: February 20 to May 16

Penguin Plunge (indoor) will be closed from February 20 through to May 16, 2024, while we complete upgrades to the building’s mechanical system to ensure it is in tip-top shape for the four species that call it home. Penguins will be viewable outdoors only (weather permitting). Thank you for your understanding.

    Brawn Family Foundation Bugtopia

    This larger-than-life interactive playground is designed for children of all ages (particularly those from 7-12). With select accessible and inclusive play features, you’ll be immersed in the world of insects.

      Designed with toddlers in mind, there’s no better way to burn some energy than this playground – except maybe the Wildlife Carousel!

      Tickets for the Wildlife Carousel can be purchased at the Carousel or at any of our gift shops. Debit or credit are the preferred payment methods; however, cash is accepted. Cost:

      • Single ride: $3
      • All-day ride: $8 for non-members, $5 for members

      Wildlife Carousel

      Operates Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.*

        Prehistoric Park Dino Slide and Dino Dig

        It’s time to get up close and personal with dinosaurs. Climb inside and slide back out of a T. rex’s mouth, and become a paleontologist for a day by discovering bones in the Dino Dig.

        Dino Dig is currently closed for the Fall & Winter season.

        There’s no better way to discover the zoo than by train. Visitors of all ages can travel from Exploration Asia to the Amur tiger habitat and back to the station at the Wildlife Carousel.

        All riders must have a ticket to board the train. Tickets can be purchased at the Wildlife Carousel or at any of our gift shops. Cost:

        • Single ride: $3
        • All-day ride: $8 for non-members, $5 for members
