Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo Membership FAQs

  • How do I get access to my membership discounts?

    If you’re purchasing tickets for special events or programs at the zoo, log in to the Member Centre to complete your purchase and receive your discount. When you’re at the grounds, just show your member card and ID to get rebates for food and gift shop items.

    Note: If you are already a member and don’t know your login information, do not create a login. Instead, contact [email protected] for help.

  • How do I sign up for free parking (Engage & Inspire Members)?

    Note: Due to system processing times, please allow a minimum of 2 hours from the time of your membership purchase before registering for parking. 

    1. Go to https://calgaryzoo.permit.parkplus.ca and click Welcome 
    2. This will lead you to the Parking Services login page, click Create Account 
    3. Fill out the following information
      • First Name
      • Last Name
      • E-mail
      • Password
    4. Click Sign Up
    5. An e-mail will be sent to you; please follow the instructions in the e-mail to confirm your e-mail and activate your account.
    6. Go to https://calgaryzoo.permit.parkplus.ca and sign in.
    7. Click My Permits, and on the left hand side click Register Membership
    8. Enter your last name and your Calgary Zoo membership number, and click Submit 
      • The last name must match the last name on your Calgary Zoo membership card.
      • If you don't have your Membership number, please contact Calgary Zoo at 403-232-9300 or by email at [email protected] 
    9. Click My Permits and on the left hand side click Manage Permits 
    10. Click on Edit My Licence Plate List
    11. Under New Plate, enter your licence plate number and province/state and click Add Plate
    12. Click on Edit under the Membership/Permit Number you want to edit 
    13. Click the toggle switch beside the licence plate you want activated until it turns green and click Save. You can activate up to two licence plates at a time. 
      • Make sure you edit the active plate list for each membership/permit number 
      • Ensure the correct licence plate(s) are activated before parking at the Calgary Zoo. 
      • You will be able to see your currently active licence plates listed next to your membership under Active Plates 

     

    Note: If you have a Residential Permit, TELUS Spark, Heritage Park or Fort Calgary parking services account, and your Calgary Zoo membership uses the same e-mail, you can use the same login credentials. 

  • I purchased an Engage Membership for my child. Do I qualify for free parking?

    No. Child memberships do not include free parking.

  • I have a new licence plate. How do I update my membership information to continue parking at the zoo for free?
    1. Go to https://calgaryzoo.permit.parkplus.ca and sign in.
    2. Click My Permits, and on the left hand side click Manage Permits.
    3. Click on Add or Remove Licence Plate from Plate List.
    4. Under New Plate, enter your licence plate number and province/state and click Add Plate.
    5. Click on Edit Active Plate List under the Membership/Permit Number you want to edit.
    6. Click the switch beside the licence plate you want activated until it turns green, and click Save. You can activate up to two licence plates at a time.
      • Make sure you edit the active plate list for each membership/permit number.

    Ensure the correct licence plate(s) are activated before parking at the Calgary Zoo. 

  • I am a Connect member. How much does parking cost?

    Parking is managed through ParkPlus, by the Calgary Parking Authority and is $13 per day.

  • If I have an Engage or Inspire membership, can I park at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo at any time?

    Engage and Inspire members receive free parking at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo from 8:45 a.m. until one hour past zoo closure (this includes extended hours for ZOOLIGHTS and special events).

  • Can I register more than one vehicle for free parking at the zoo?

    You can register as many licence plates as you like in your account. Only two licence plates may be active per member ID. However, only one registered active vehicle is entitled to park at a time. If you park a second active vehicle during the same visit, you must pay to park that vehicle. Failure to do so may result in a parking ticket.

    Ensure the correct licence plate(s) are activated before parking at the Calgary Zoo.

  • I have a membership, but received a parking ticket. What can I do?

    Engage and Inspire members are responsible for properly registering their licence plates. If you pay for parking the day you purchase an Engage and Inspire membership you will not receive a refund. Parking on your next visit will be complimentary. If you are already registered and received a ticket, please appeal your ticket online here.

  • Can I apply my admission ticket to the cost of a membership?

    Yes, you can put your day admission towards a zoo membership. Offer valid for up to seven days from your purchase. Stop by or call Guest Relations at 403-232-9300 to upgrade today.

    Guests may apply one adult day admission to one adult membership or one child day admission to one child membership.
