Are your kids bursting with energy? There’s no shortage of fun at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo.

Brawn Family Foundation Bugtopia

An exciting new nature inspired interactive play space! This larger than life play space is designed for children of all ages, particularly those ages 7-12, and immerses you in the playful world of insects, including select accessible and inclusive play features.

  • Open daily, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Calgary Co-op Kids Zone

Located in Exploration Asia, the Calgary Co-op Kids Zone includes the wildlife carousel and a playground for toddlers.

Playground Hours 

  • 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Wildlife Carousel Hours* 

  • Operating from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (last ride at 3:45 p.m.)

*Hours are subject to weather and other conditions and may change without notice.

Cost

  • Single ride: $3

  • All-day ride: $8 for non-members or $5 for members

Tickets can be purchased at the Wildlife Carousel or at any of our gift shops. Debit or credit are the preferred methods of payment however cash is accepted.

Kinsmen Zooventure Playground

An adventure awaits at the Kinsmen Zooventure Playground. Find animal-themed slides, tunnels and mazes, located between Destination Africa and the Dairy Bar.

Hours 

  • 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Nature Play

In the Nature Play area, just east of Cequel Energy Lodge in Canadian Wilds, kids are encouraged to get their hands dirty and connect with nature.


Prehistoric Park Dino Slide and Dino Dig 

In the Prehistoric Park, kids can slide out of the mouth of a T. rex, and then go on to become paleontologists and discover bones in the Dino Dig.

  • 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Whooping Crane Interactive Area

Ever wonder how your wingspan compares to a whooping crane’s? Or what it feels like to sit in a nest? Find out in the Whooping Crane Interactive Area, located in the Canadian Wilds.

Electric Train

Located in Exploration Asia, at the West end of the zoo, visitors of all ages can board the train at the train station across from the Wildlife Carousel. The train travels from the station to the west end of the Amur tiger habitat and back to the station.
