African Rainforest Building: The African Rainforest Building will open at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8th, to give our western lowland gorilla troop the space, comfort, and privacy they need as they meet their newest member, ‘Johari’. Thank you for your understanding.

Seasonal Closures

Gorilla Amphitheatre: The Gorilla Amphitheatre is closed for the season from October 15th, 2025. Our gorilla troop remains viewable in their indoor habitat.

Prehistoric Park: Prehistoric Park is closed for the season from October 27th, 2025, pending favorable weather conditions.

Animal Viewing Impacts:

PETRONAS Gateway to Asia Malayan Tapir Viewing: ‘Sempurna’ and her calf will have daily access to the main indoor habitat from 10:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. They’ll also have access to their behind-the-scenes space and may choose to spend time there, especially when the calf is nursing, so viewing isn’t always guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.

Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.

  • Species Viewable: Bactrian camels, Komodo dragons, white-handed gibbons, Malayan tapirs, red-crowned cranes, Turkmenian markhors, Amur tigers, wild boar, and Pallas’s cats.
  • Species Not Viewable: Snow leopards and red pandas have been relocated during construction, but don’t worry – these beloved species will be back in 2026. Our peacocks and Dalmatian pelicans are currently spending time in their winter holding space.

West Gate Closure

Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

Where: The ENMAX Conservatory

Seating Areas: Choose from three seating areas within the ENMAX Conservatory: The Nutrien Garden of Life, the Garden Gallery, or the Orchid Garden.

Time: 5:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Schedule: 

  • 5:15 p.m. – Guests can arrive and park in the North Parking Lot.
  • 5:30 p.m. – Guests may begin arriving and proceed to the ENMAX Conservatory for seating. The bar opens (accepting debit, credit, or cash.)
  • 6:00 p.m. – Official start of the event.
  • 6:30 p.m. – Dinner service begins at 6:30 p.m. sharp.
  • 8:00 p.m. – Guests move into the theatre for the evening presentation (i.e., the naughty talk!)
  • 10:00 p.m. – Evening concludes.

Ticket Price: $125 + GST per person

  • Parking is only available in the North Lot for this event, however, if you require handicapped parking please reach out specialevents@calgaryzoo.com.
  • Ticket includes: four-course plated dinner and a memorable & playful exchange about romance in the wild.
  • This is an ‘adults only’ (18+) experience. Guests arriving for this experience with children/infants will not be admitted. No refunds will be provided.
  • Tables are for 2 people. A maximum of 2 tables can be pushed together. This must be requested in advance in the notes section when you complete your ticket purchase.
  • Guests are able to be picked-up & dropped off at our South Parking Lot located at 1300 Zoo Road NE, however, no parking is available at this location.
  • Parking payment of $14 is required. Wild Explorer, Wild Adventure, and all Wild Guardian members receive free parking if they have successfully registered with ParkPlus.
  • Wild Adventurer members receive a 10% discount and Wild Guardian members receive a 20% discount . Members can access their discount by logging into your membership account. If you are unsure of your membership login DO NOT create your own login, please email TicketandMembership@calgaryzoo.com for assistance.
  • All tickets and dietary requests must be pre-ordered and requested 48 hours prior to the event date.
  • Please note that our menu items marked as GF are gluten-friendly as we are not a gluten-free facility.
