September at the Zoo: Fall Into Fresh Adventures and Wild Discoveries

This September, the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo invites you to unlock mysteries, explore art before it disappears, and share a tapir-themed night out. With the final weeks of our Happy Hour admission special, fall routines have never looked this wild!

Locked Zoo: Diving Deep*

September 6 | Adults Only 

Set sail on an epic adventure at Locked Zoo: Diving Deep (18+)!  This exciting puzzle game will take you on a wild journey through the zoo after hours. With clues hidden around the zoo, you’ll need keen observation and quick thinking to navigate the challenges. 

Solve puzzles, crack codes, and unlock the secrets of the ocean to escape before time runs out. You’ll be challenged to use your wits, think creatively, and work with your team to solve an intricate series of puzzles that bring animal conservation to life. 

Alberta Biodiversity Festival

September 12 – 14 | Family-friendly 

Now in its fourth year, the Alberta Biodiversity Festival has become a much-anticipated tradition, highlighting the importance of conservation and education through an engaging mix of family-friendly experiences. Visitors can look forward to interactive exhibits, discovery stations, and hands-on activities that bring Alberta’s fish, wildlife, and ecosystems to life. 

The festival takes place September 12th to 14th at the Wilder Insitute/Calgary Zoo, with a special finale event at Bow Habitat Station on September 20th. Admission to the Alberta Biodiversity Festival is included with general zoo admission and memberships.  

Last Chance: Washed Ashore

Until September 14 | Family-friendly 

Time is running out to see this travelling art exhibit, where marine debris is transformed into intricate sculptures that tell a critical story about ocean pollution and the power of conscious consumer choices. From Chompers the Shark to Daisy the Polar Bear, Rocky the Northern Frog to Nora the Salmon, Washed Ashore gives guests a moment to reflect on the impacts of plastic pollution on animal habitats around the world. 

Admission to Washed Ashore is included with general zoo admission and memberships. 

It’s Happy Hour at the Zoo!

Until September 28 | Thursdays to Sundays, after 3 p.m. 

Make the most of summer’s wind down with a visit to the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo — at a special rate! Until the end of September, enjoy 20% off daily admission tickets when you visit after 3 p.m. from Thursday to Sunday. Whether you’re adventuring with little ones, saying hello to your favourite animals, or soaking in the beauty of our lush gardens, a late-day visit is a perfect way to create unforgettable memories.

Wild After Hours: Tapirs*

September 20 and 27 | Adults Only 

Step into the secret world of Malayan tapirs at this adults-only event that explores the fascinating lives of these unique and mysterious creatures. Begin your evening with an exclusive, after-hours viewing of our two tapirs in their lush PETRONAS Gateway to Asia habitat, then head to Safari Lodge for a delicious four-course meal. 

Your evening also includes a captivating presentation about these incredible animals, featuring stories, photos, and videos from the dedicated staff who care for them. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience. Get your tickets before they’re gone! 

Sunday Safari Brunch*
