Zebras

Bite-Sized

Lending a Helping Hoof

A new species has been spotted – er, striped – at the Archibald Biodiversity Centre (ABC)!

In November 2025, our friends at the Edmonton Valley Zoo said a bittersweet farewell to their male Grévy’s zebras, nine-year-old ‘Cody’ and two-year-old ‘Tufani’, as they prepare for an exciting construction project.

We’re proud to lend a helping hoof by temporarily caring for them at our offsite conservation centre before they move to a permanent home at another accredited zoo.

During their stay with us, they won’t be publicly viewable, but they’ve settled in well and are receiving exceptional care from our Animal Care, Health & Welfare team. Did you know Grévy’s zebras are the largest zebra species?

Every animal has a story, and we’re honoured to be part of Cody and Tufani’s journey.
