Adjusted Hours and Impacts

Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary: The Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary will close at 3 p.m. each day from Tuesday, September 2nd through to Friday, September 5th, to accommodate painting in the area.

Penguin Plunge: Penguin Plunge will open at 9:30 a.m. on the following days to accommodate our Penguin Breakfast events: August 2, 3, 10, 16, 24, and 31

Animal Viewing Impacts:

Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.

  • Species Viewable: Bactrian camels, Komodo dragons, white-handed gibbons, Malayan tapirs, red-crowned cranes, Turkmenian markhors, Amur tigers, wild boar, and Pallas’s cats. Plus, our Dalmatian pelicans can be found in their temporary home at Land of Lemurs!
  • Species Not Viewable: Snow leopards and red pandas have been relocated during construction, but don’t worry – these beloved species will be back in 2026.

West Gate Closure

Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

Schedule:

12:00 p.m.: Guests are welcome to enter the zoo starting at noon to enjoy an afternoon exploring the zoo grounds
5:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.: Doors open at Safari Lodge and the cash bar will be open for drinks
6:00 p.m.:  Four-course Harvest Dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. sharp
8:30 p.m.: Evening concludes

Ticket Pricing:

Adult: $70 + GST
Senior: $65 + GST
Child (3-15) $35 + GST
Infants (2 and under): are free. Please let us know if you have infants joining you when you book your tickets.

Member Discount:

  • Members receive a 10% discount (Wild Explorer & Wild Adventurer only).
  • Discount is applied by logging into your membership account. If you are unsure of your membership login DO NOT create your own login, please email TicketandMembership@CalgaryZoo.com for assistance.

Additional Booking Information:

  • Parking is $13. Wild Journey members receive free parking if they have successfully registered with ParkPlus.
  • Tickets sales close at 11:59 p.m. on October 9th, 2025, for availability after this date please contact Guest Relations on (403) 232-9300.
  • Infants (under 3) are free, please advise if you have any infants or require a high chair in the note fields below. Must be requested in advance to be accommodated.
  • Guests that have larger groups or wish to be seated together must be requested in advance in the note field while booking your tickets. Tables will not be re-arranged on the evening of event
  • This event is entirely accessible – if you need to rent a wheelchair or powerchair – please contact Guest Relations at (403) 232-9300 at least 24 hours before the event. These services will not be open during the event without a pre-booking.
  • Please note: Seating is at tables of 8 and may be shared with other guests alongside your party.
