Penguin Plunge

Surround yourself with playful penguins perched on rocky outcroppings, plunging into chilly water, popping out of holes in the ice and walking with their trademark waddle. It’s the perfect setting to get to know Humboldt, gentoo, rockhopper and king penguins. With a retail area, food outlet and washrooms, Penguin Plunge is a destination in itself.

The Penguin Walk returned for its sixth year in January 2018! The king penguins daily stroll through the zoo is over for the season, but will return in January 2019.

Penguin Habitats

It’s easy to imagine penguins waddling over the frozen wastelands of Antarctica, but not all penguins prefer the ice. Humboldt penguins come from Peru and Chile where they live on islands and rocky cliffs along the coast. Even gentoos are found as far north as some southern islands off South America.
