Farewell to ‘Piper’

July 08, 2025 | 1 minute read

On July 7, we said goodbye to ‘Piper’, our 8-year-old African pygmy goose.

The median life expectancy is 6.2 years for pygmy geese under human care. Piper had been with us since 2018 and was an eye-catching resident of the African Rainforest Aviary. His necropsy revealed kidney failure as the cause of death.

Though small in stature, Piper made a big impression on his dedicated care givers and will be deeply missed.
