How does biodiversity shape the survival of species and the health of ecosystems? Investigate biodiversity at three scales: ecosystem, species, and genetic. Through hands-on investigation of our museum’s biological artifacts, observations of the animals under our care, and exploration of the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo’s participation in Species Survival Plans, students will see how their classroom learning is directly applied in conservation research. This inquiry-based program encourages critical thinking, scientific observations, and meaningful discussion about humanity’s role in sustaining biodiversity.
