    The Penguin Walk returns for its 11th year on January 13. The king penguin colony will head out on zoo grounds for a  daily enrichment walk to keep their brains and bodies healthy, and visitors get to enjoy the fun (weather dependent)! 
    The Walk begins at 10:30 a.m. sharp so we recommend arroving early to secure your viewing spot! 

    But as an added bonus for our valued members we will be sending out a sneak peak opportunity to view the waddle so be sure to watch the member newsletter for all the details!

    Howl We Know About Wolves
    Have you ever wondered how biologists study animals that avoid humans, like wolves? Join us for a virtual lunch and learn on Friday, February 10 as we go on a virtual tour live from Banff with a Parks Canada expert to discover how and why we study these amazing animals. We will explore the technology we use for wildlife conservation, predator/prey relationships, species interactions, and how you can help wolves thrive in Banff National Park. Watch for more details on how to participate in this virtual presentation in the Member Newsletter.

    Engage and Inspire Members will have a chance to connect with Community Conservation Specialist, Donna Sheppard in Kenya for an update on what is happening with Kenya Mountain Bongo Partnership.

    Engage and Inspire Members hop on down to Easter Eggstravaganza on April 7 where we will have an extra treat station set up on Grazers Lawn for our Engage Child and Inspire Child Members.

    Mark your calendars and plan your visit! On Saturday, May 27 Engage and Child Inspire Members will have a chance to ride the carousel for free!

    Our gardens are getting wilder.

    This month Inspire Members will have the opportunity to tune in and connect with our Conservation Research Population Ecologist, from the comfort of their own home to learn about the conservation work we are doing for Burrowing Owls.     Species Survival Plan - Animal Match Making

    How do you find the right silverback to lead a troop of gorillas?  How do you create a new pairing of penguins?  How do you introduce a tiger to her new mate?

    Inspire Members, watch your inbox for the invitation to learn all about the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo's participation in Species Survival Plan breeding programs for threatened or endangered species.

    Inspire Members will have a chance to get up close and personal with our BioFact collection, sponsored by ConocoPhillips, and engage with our Conservation Education team to learn about how we get these items, how we maintain and manage our collection, and how these items are used to support our conservation education efforts.

    Inspire Members will have an opportunity to learn about Sparky and Lobi, our resident Hippopotamus, as well as learn about our community based conservation efforts through the Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary in Ghana.

    Join our botanical curator and designer for a tour of our gardens. This outdoor tour will introduce you to many of our plants at the zoo while giving you realistic tips for your own garden at home! Keep your eye out for an email invite! If you are not subscribed to emails please contact [email protected]
