Parking

The North Lot is the zoo’s primary public parking lot. It is located at 210 St. George’s Drive NE, between the zoo’s North Gate entrance and Telus Spark Science Centre.

The West Lot, is located at the west end of St. George’s Island, off Zoo Road NE. Please note that the zoo’s West Gate is closed for construction and the zoo is not accessible from this lot.

Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029.

    What You Need To Know

    Animal Viewing Impact: Hippos

    Our hippos will not be viewable Tuesday, June 24th, and Wednesday, June 25th, to accommodate painting around the habitat. Thank you for your understanding.

    Adjusted Hours: Penguin Plunge

    Penguin Plunge will open at 9:30 a.m. on the following days to accommodate our Penguin Breakfast events:

    June 28
    July 6, 13, and 19
    August 2, 10, and 16

    Early Building Closure: Brawn Family Foundation River Lodge

    Last entry to the Brawn Family Foundation River Lodge will be at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 22nd and Sunday, June 29th, to accommodate setup for our Wild After Hours: Otters (18+) event. Thank you for your understanding.

    Exploration Asia Redevelopment: What to Expect

    The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.

    Species Viewable:
    Bactrian camels, Komodo dragons, white-handed gibbons, Malayan tapirs, red-crowned cranes, Turkmenian markhors, Amur tigers, wild boar, and Pallas’s cats. Plus, our Dalmatian pelicans can be found in their temporary home at Land of Lemurs!

    Species Not Viewable:
    Snow leopards and red pandas have been relocated during construction, but don’t worry – these beloved species will be back in 2026.

    West Entrance Closure

    Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

      Make Your Visit Wilder

      The Wilder Bunch

      During the high season, the Wilder Bunch leads a daily Conservation Parade, which starts by Penguin Plunge and featuring larger-than-life animal puppets and costumes created by Green Fools Theatre. You might see a burrowing owl, a swift fox, or even a polar bear on parade. Their lively music performances are also a highlight. Don’t miss them performing a few of their original songs such as “The Conservation Song” and “Bugs!”
